Kuok Singapore and Samsung Heavy Industries Sign Strategic Cooperation Agreement
Kuok (Singapore) Limited has signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries, creating a new platform to explore cooperation across maritime, offshore, energy infrastructure, logistics and related sectors.
The agreement brings together Samsung Heavy Industries’ engineering, technology and offshore project development capabilities with Kuok Group’s regional maritime, logistics and infrastructure ecosystem.
Under the cooperation framework, the two parties will evaluate opportunities in offshore and energy infrastructure, shipbuilding, marine engineering, offshore logistics and other related areas.
Kuok (Singapore) Limited Chairman Kuok Khoon Ean said the agreement reflects the strong relationship and mutual confidence developed between the two organisations. He noted that closer collaboration would allow both sides to combine complementary strengths and pursue opportunities capable of delivering long-term value for customers, stakeholders and their respective businesses.
Samsung Heavy Industries Vice Chairman and CEO Sung-an Choi said SHI looks forward to exploring opportunities where its engineering and technology capabilities can be combined with Kuok Group’s regional presence, maritime ecosystem and execution platforms.
KSL’s maritime businesses operate under Kuok Maritime Group, an integrated maritime platform covering offshore maritime and subsea support services, shipping and transportation, shipbuilding and engineering solutions.
Within this ecosystem, PaxOcean is expected to play an important role in evaluating and potentially executing opportunities arising from the cooperation. PaxOcean provides shipbuilding, conversion, repair and offshore engineering capabilities, and operates five shipyards in Singapore, China and Indonesia.
The agreement is not a single project contract, but a broader strategic cooperation framework. For Samsung Heavy Industries, it provides a channel to strengthen access to regional maritime and energy infrastructure opportunities. For Kuok Group and PaxOcean, it creates a platform to deepen technical collaboration with one of the world’s leading shipbuilders and offshore engineering companies.
The cooperation also comes at a time when offshore energy, floating production solutions, marine engineering and regional logistics infrastructure are becoming increasingly important parts of the maritime value chain. Both parties said the agreement reflects their commitment to strengthening strategic relationships, enhancing technical collaboration and exploring long-term opportunities across the maritime, offshore and energy sectors.
