NANTONG, China – July 15, 2026 – CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. (CIMC SOE) has formally signed a construction contract with Sinopec (Beijing) Clean Energy Co., Ltd. for one 12,000-cubic-meter LNG bunkering vessel. The vessel will be entirely built by CIMC SOE at its Nantong shipyard, reinforcing the company’s leading position in the global small-to-medium LNG bunkering vessel segment.

The order marks a strategic move by Sinopec to expand its green shipping infrastructure and strengthen its clean-energy bunkering service network along China’s coastal routes. The partnership underscores Sinopec’s confidence in CIMC SOE’s engineering capabilities, quality control, and track record of on-time delivery, while aligning with Sinopec’s broader commitment to low-carbon shipping and energy transition.

Under the agreement, both parties will integrate their respective industrial strengths and core technologies to jointly advance the vessel’s design and construction. CIMC SOE will strictly adhere to shipbuilding standards and implement rigorous project management to ensure high-quality and efficient execution, with delivery scheduled for 2028.

Once in commercial operation, the new LNG bunkering vessel is expected to fill critical gaps in China’s coastal LNG supply infrastructure, enhancing the availability and reliability of bunkering services along major domestic shipping routes. As a flagship project in Sinopec’s clean-energy portfolio, the vessel will play a key role in accelerating the green transformation of the domestic maritime industry and supporting the nation’s “dual carbon” goals of peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.

With this latest order, CIMC SOE further expands its order book for LNG bunkering vessels, cementing its global leadership in the specialized shipbuilding niche. The company has seen a significant surge in new contracts in 2026, driven by strong market demand for LNG-powered solutions and its proven expertise in technology, quality, and delivery performance. The new project adds to CIMC SOE’s growing portfolio of clean-energy vessels, contributing to the high-quality, low-carbon development of China’s shipbuilding and shipping sectors.
