LONDON, 30 July 2026: Silverstream has surpassed 160 vessel installations of its market-leading air lubrication technology, marking a significant milestone in the adoption of Energy Efficiency Technologies (EETs) across the global maritime industry.
This achievement follows the delivery of Grimaldi Group’s latest Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs), the Grande Oriente in June, followed by the delivery of Wallenius Wilhelmsen's PCTC Arctic Tern in July this year, bringing the total number of vessels operating with the Silverstream® System up to 164 globally.
This growth in the number of installations reflects the shipping industry’s commitment to air lubrication, as an independently verified technology that delivers immediate fuel and emissions reductions.
Since its first commercial deployment, the Silverstream® System has been adopted across a diverse range of vessel segments, including cruise ships, container vessels, LNG carriers, Ro-Ro/ RoPax vessels and PCTCs, demonstrating the scalability and versatility of air lubrication technology across the global fleet.
Reflecting on this significant milestone for the company, Noah Silberschmidt, Founder and CEO of Silverstream, said: “Reaching more than 160 vessels on the water is a significant achievement and I am grateful to our customers, colleagues and partners who have played a huge role in this success.”
“Shipowners increasingly look for solutions that can provide a hedge against rising fuel costs by reducing fuel consumption and emissions immediately. The growth of our installed fleet shows that air lubrication is a trusted and proven part of future-proofing strategies.”
As part of their long-term partnership, Silverstream and Grimaldi Group have worked together to deploy air lubrication technology across multiple vessel programmes, supporting Grimaldi’s ambition to build one of the world’s most efficient and sustainable fleets. The Grande Oriente is part of a generation of PCTCs equipped with the Silverstream® System and represents the latest chapter in that collaboration.
