The initiative joins the International Maritime Organization's Light It Up Blue campaign, marking the global maritime community's commitment to turning policy into practice.

Maritime landmarks around the world, from International Maritime Organization (IMO) Member States to partner organisations, will be bathed in blue on the evening of 24 September, supported by Anchor Plaza in Hong Kong.

World Maritime Day is an annual United Nations observance led by the IMO, recognising the role of international shipping in global trade and the work of the seafarers who keep it moving. This year's theme calls on the maritime industry to turn international policy and frameworks into consistent, everyday practice.

World Maritime Day is an opportunity to reflect on the role shipping plays in everyday life. Every safe voyage and every responsible operation helps keep goods, businesses and economies moving around the world. Behind that work are millions of maritime professionals, including the more than 1,200 maritime companies that form Hong Kong's maritime cluster. The day recognises the people behind global shipping and the role they play in keeping global trade moving.
