The International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance was officially established in Beijing during the Global Sustainable Transport Forum 2026, bringing together major shipping, port, energy and maritime-related companies from 12 countries.

The Alliance was jointly initiated by the Global Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge Center, COSCO SHIPPING Group, CMA CGM Group, China Energy Engineering Group, Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) and other organizations.

According to China Transport News, the Alliance is the world’s first non-governmental international organization established specifically around cooperation on international green shipping corridors.

Its founding membership includes 45 leading companies and organizations from 12 countries, covering multiple segments of the green maritime industry chain.

The Alliance held its first general assembly in Beijing at the same time. Fu Xuyin, former Vice Minister of Transport of China, was elected as the inaugural chairman of the International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance.

Li Xinghu, Vice Minister of Transport of China, attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

The Alliance aims to establish an international cooperation platform for green shipping and promote the sustainable development of the maritime industry.

According to the organization, its future work will focus on coordinating cooperation in the development of international green shipping corridors, promoting greater alignment between domestic regulations and international standards covering green vessels, green marine fuels and green ports, and accelerating the establishment of international certification systems for green marine fuels.

The Alliance will also work to coordinate transport facilitation measures, develop internationally influential demonstration projects, support technological research and commercialization, and strengthen capacity-building activities.

The organization is intended to connect companies and institutions across the shipping value chain, including shipping companies, ports, energy companies and other maritime stakeholders, while supporting international cooperation on shipping decarbonization.

Fu Xuyin was born in May 1965 and began his career in 1987. He previously served as Vice Minister of Transport of China and Director General of the Maritime Safety Administration of China.

With companies including COSCO SHIPPING, CMA CGM, SIPG and China Energy Engineering among its initiators, the newly established Alliance is expected to provide a new international platform for cooperation on green shipping corridors and the maritime industry’s transition toward more sustainable development.
