A new shipping investment project filed by Xiamen C&D Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd., part of the @C&D Inc. group, points to a fresh expansion of its shipping asset portfolio.

According to publicly disclosed project filing information, the company plans to invest RMB 500 million (about US$70 million) in the acquisition of commercial vessels, including container ships and bulk carriers.

The project is scheduled to run from October 2026 to December 2027, with the filing handled by the Development and Reform Bureau of Xiamen’s Siming District.
One important point: although the project is titled a “shipbuilding project,” the filing reportedly classifies it as a vessel acquisition project. So far, there is no confirmed disclosure of ship numbers, sizes, shipyards, prices, or whether the vessels will be newbuildings or secondhand tonnage.

C&D has been involved in ship trading, financing and shipping investment for decades, and has previously invested in and operated bulk carriers and chemical tankers.

The RMB 500 million filing therefore deserves attention as a potential sign that C&D is preparing to increase its direct exposure to shipping assets — but it should not yet be treated as a confirmed newbuilding order.
