China's export volume of automobiles up 30 pct year on year in Jan CCTV 2023-02-14 09:43

China's auto exports continued to maintain a good momentum as auto companies exported over 300,000 vehicles in January alone, an increase of over 30 percent year on year, of which new energy vehicles increased by over 48 percent year on year.

Key automobile export terminals such as Shanghai Haitong Port and Nangang Port have been very busy since the beginning of this year, and cargo ships loaded with homemade automobiles are heading to a port in Israel.

"We plan to load 2,742 vehicles of various kinds in Shanghai, including domestic brands such as BYD, Chery, and Xiamen King Long. The final destination port of these vehicles is the Port of Eilat in Israel," said Gao Yuan, boarding salesman of Shanghai Port United International Ocean Shipping Agency Co., Ltd.

As the largest ro-ro car terminal in the country, Haitong Port is responsible for more than 90 percent of Shanghai's car export tasks as automobiles from the hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta and other regions are continuously delivered to the port each day and then shipped to places around the world.

Haitong Port has optimized its operation process so as to meet the surge in automobile exports. Meanwhile, customs department has also streamlined its clearance procedure so as to facilitate the export process.

"Through pre-custom clearance and pre-checking, online processing, and processing through reservation, we have made sure that the loading operation will be carried out the moment the cargo ship docks at the port and will leave the port without delay," said Zhang Yu, deputy head of the First Team of Waigaoqiao Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station.

The export volume of automobiles at Haitong Port exceeded one million for the first time in 2022, which was four times that of 2019.

The port is expected to see higher export volume giving the promising performance in the January.

"In January this year, automobile exports reached 80,000 vehicles, which was a good start," said Li Liujun, duty scheduling manager on duty, Shanghai Haitong International Automobile Terminal Co., Ltd.
