Clive Beesley, director at marine claims consultancy C Solutions has announced a move to the UK at the end of June after 26 years of working in Hong Kong as a claims consultant and Admiralty manager.
Mr Beesley began his career in 1978 with a leading law firm in London before transferring to Hong Kong as Admiralty manager with a similar firm in 1984. During 20 years of specialising in casualty work in the region Mr Beesley dealt with countless collisions, groundings, salvage and wreck removal cases and oil spill matters; from the incident occurrence through to the resolution of all claims.
C Solutions was established in 2000 by his brother Chris Beesley. Headquartered in London, the company has offices in Hamburg, Latvia, Singapore and Sydney as well as the Hong Kong office, and a global network of legal and claims correspondents. The Group handle the full range of shipping and chartering related claims, including arbitration and litigation management when needed.
After an eight-year spell back in London between 2004 and 2012, Mr Beesley returned to Hong Kong for a second tour of duty but this time with family-owned firm C Solutions.
Looking back on his tenure in Hong Kong, Mr Beesley remarked on the increase in some financial losses, often with greater complexity requiring a bespoke approach. C Solutions have held their own in the market throughout.
“Casualty numbers have witnessed a general decline over the last 30 years,” he said, whilst attributing the improved safety record to more effective training programmes for seafarers and improvements in shipboard technology. C Solutions continues to handle serious casualty cases and has seen an increase in demand for the work they do in insurance and claims on an outsourced basis.
“I’ve had a wonderful and rewarding time in Hong Kong among some of the best people in the business. I will maintain close contact with Hong Kong Clients and will continue to spend time in Hong Kong and surrounding areas.”
Mr Beesley takes up the position of claims director of C Solutions Limited, London in July.
