On September 2, 2020, China Merchants Industry and China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau Group held a signing ceremony for the construction contract of 2200 DWT crane ship.

The 2200 DWT crane ship signed by both parties is designed by MARIC, which adopts steel, box hull, longitudinal skeleton, single deck plate, partial double bottom structure, head and tail oblique cutting and simple line shape.

Since June 2020, bidding for the project has been started. Seven well-known shipyards in China have participated in the bidding. Finally, China Merchants Industry (Shenzhen) won the bid.

The ship is constructed in two phases. The first stage main deck is equipped with a 2200 DWT double "L" crane, which is mainly used for hoisting steel box girder and pier caps of offshore bridges;

The second phase is transformed into a 2,200 DWT straight boom luffing crane, which is mainly used for hoisting the whole hole beam of large bridge over water and hoisting the offshore wind power project.
