CMA CGM has officially appointed Esra BORA as the new General Manager of its China operations, effective June 1, 2025. This strategic move underscores the Group’s focus on reinforcing leadership strength in Greater China—one of its most dynamic and strategically important markets globally.

With over 20 years of experience in the shipping and logistics sector, Esra BORA brings a uniquely global leadership background spanning Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

Since joining CMA CGM in 2018, she has held a series of key leadership positions:

General Manager, CMA CGM Vietnam (2023–2025)

Head of Europe Region (2022–2023)

Vice President, Global Sales and Customer Experience (2020–2022)

Managing Director, CMA CGM Turkey (2018–2020)

Prior to CMA CGM, BORA spent over a decade at A.P. Moller – Maersk, where she served as Director of Trade & Marketing for the Eastern Mediterranean, as well as Head of the Black Sea Cluster and held senior positions in China and Turkey.

Her educational and career foundation began with roles in Maersk Denizcilik and Maersk Logistics in Turkey, before progressing into regional trade and capacity leadership roles across Asia.

BORA succeeds Adeline Adeline Franger Chouraqui, who has taken over as CEO of CMA CGM America.

Her cross-cultural experience and proven ability to deliver commercial and organizational growth make her a significant leadership asset at a time when global carriers are intensifying efforts to localize decision-making and build market-specific strategies.

As Esra BORA takes the helm at CMA CGM China, all eyes will be on how she steers the Group through evolving trade dynamics, regulatory shifts, and digital transformation in one of the world’s most complex logistics environments.
