GAC extends European footprint with new office in Algeciras, Spain Opened at strategic hub in response to growing customer demand Xinde Marine News 2022-11-09 09:09

Algeciras, Spain, 8 November 2022: Global shipping and logistics provider GAC Group has opened the first of several planned offices in Spain, at the port of Algeciras. The move, which comes just three years after the opening of GAC Gibraltar, represents the latest step in the company’s European growth strategy, as the company continues to expand its presence in the region to better meet customers’ needs.

Located in the province of Cádiz, Algeciras is Spain’s largest port, with more than 10 km of quays catering to all types of freight and passenger traffic.

GAC Spain will offer a range of integrated ship agency, husbandry and ship spares logistics services for up to 60,000 vessels that pass through the Straits of Gibraltar between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea every year. It will also strengthen GAC’s global coverage and add another service base to those the Group already has at key transit ports such as Singapore, Suez, Panama and Bosphorus.

As part of the cooperation between the two offices, GAC Gibraltar will provide vessel repair services and bunker fuels to ships docking at Algeciras.
“Having a physical presence in Spain will enable us to offer our clients even greater choice and flexibility when choosing the location that best meets their operational needs,” says Thomas Okbo, GAC’s Group Vice President, Europe & Africa.

“Our team at GAC Gibraltar will work closely with the new office in Algeciras to offer GAC’s new and existing customers added value.”

GAC’s new office in Algeciras is the latest of more than 300 branches in over 50 countries for the wider GAC Group, which employs about 7,500 staff worldwide.
