Consultation on amendments to the National Law Regulations and cost recovery closes soon

To ensure the smooth implementation of a revised Marine Order 505 (Certificates of competency) from 1 January 2023, AMSA intends to implement cost recovery arrangements, consistent with the arrangements for existing certificates of competency, and amendments to the National Law regulations.
The cost recovery and amendments specifically relate to the issuing of five new types of certificates of competency (CoCs), which are being introduced next year under the revised Marine Order 505.

The new CoCs include:

·Sailing Master Coastal Near Coastal
·Sailing Master Offshore Near Coastal
·Coxswain Grade 3 Near Coastal
·Master <45 m Near Coastal
·Master <100 m Near Coastal.

Importantly, for existing CoC holders, their certificates remain valid until expiry. The fees for the new certificates are consistent with the fee structure for existing certificates.
