Eaglestar announced the appointment of its first Malaysian female Master - Captain Eezmaira Sazzea Binti Shaharuzzaman who has successfully taken command of Seri Bijaksana, a 153,000 cbm LNG carrier.

Captain Eezmaira Sazzea was among the first group of Malaysian women selected to pursue professional maritime training in Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM, also known as the Malaysia Maritime Academy) when the academy first expanded its Maritime Education and Training courses to include female cadets back in 2006. With her latest appointment, Captain Eezmaira Sazzea is now part of an exclusive global group of female seafarers who are currently making waves as Captains helming merchant vessels of various types across the world.

The appointment of Captain Eezmaira Sazzea is testament to Eaglestar's commitment towards gender equality principles in various areas of its human capital strategies and operations. This is in line with the global agenda to facilitate greater empowerment of women in leadership positions at sea and shore, supporting the aspirations of UN's Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 5 : Gender Equality. This progressive action will further attract more women towards the maritime career, drive advancement, and positively shaping the future of the maritime industry locally and internationally.

Congratulations and way to go Captain Eezmaira Sazzea.
