Norstar Ship Management launches Norstar Well@Sea Programto improve overall wellbeing of its seafarers. xinde marine news 2021-06-28 17:28


Norstar Ship Management today launched the Norstar Well@Sea Programfor all the vessels under its management to improve the overall wellbeing of the crew members. The program has also been extended to every personnel ashore based in Singapore, Yangon, Tokyo, and Westport offices.

WellAtSea is a start-up firm which aims to improve the overall well-being of the seafarer by introducing continuous and sustainable organizational change, with offices in Denmark and Manila. The programs are specially designed and created by health experts – medical doctors, physiotherapists, and psychologists.

The overall objective of this program is to direct activities and content that will benefit and enhance the life of the seafarer. The content of the program revolves around three focus areas:

1. Improved socialization and culture change
Activities and challenges are geared towards incentivising collaborative behaviours with their colleagues.
2. Mental resiliency and stress management
Challenges and learning courses are geared towards equipping individual with coping skills to increase overall resiliency and stress management.
3. Physical strength and improved physical health state
Exercise plans to improve overall health state of the users, while allowing individual to explore personal health goals.

The users can access the program via web-based platform and a mobile app for both Apple and Android devices. The platform will be made available for allcrew members on board from 25th June 2021 which also happens to be the Day of the Seafarers. Dr. Lars Grünitz, Managing Director of NSM commented: “Our crew is our biggest asset. Improving their mental and physical wellbeing is essential for a safe and efficient operation. We are looking forward to working with WellAtSea on this exciting initiative.”
