Three parties cooperate to develop a 40,000 m3 LNG ship xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2020-08-04 16:39

LNT Marine, Wuhu Shipyard and SDARI signed a joint design agreement on July 31, under which the three parties will jointly develop and utilize LNT A-Box ® (Type A) cargo containment system invented by LNT Marine to design 40,000 m3 LNG carriers suitable for navigation on the Yangtze River in China.

The ship is called WUHUMAX and is an optimized shep draught LNG carrier designed specifically for the limited draft and air draught of the Yangtze River. The ship is 182 m long, 31.6 m wide and is type 18 m deep.

LNT A-Box ® adopts prismatic fluid filling design to improve the ship's space utilization and provide a flat and convenient deck layout. Meanwhile, the tank swinging system effectively controls the liquid swaying impact in the tank and greatly reduces the loading restrictions on liquid cargo.

In the next few years, with the completion of several LNG terminals on the Yangtze River, more economically viable LNG carriers with such shallow-draft capacity will be required.

LNT Marine was formed through the merger of LNG New Technologies and MGI Thermo.

In November 2019, LNT Marine AS' LNT-A-Box LNG containment system received certification from USCG, following certification from CCS, ABS and DNV GL.
