German shipowner places new order in Chinese shipbuilding enterprise xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-05-18 11:30

German shipowner Reederei H Vogemann placed an order for 4+2 bulk carriers from Chinese shipbuilder Yangfan Group, and took effect an alternative order for 2 bulk carriers from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group.

The six bulk carriers to be built are the second-generation Green Dolphin 40, 000 dwt Handysize bulk carrier developed by SDARI, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation.

This type of bulk cargo ship is 179.95 meters long, 177.0 meters vertical length, 32.0 meters wide, 15.0 meters deep, design draft of 9.5 meters, service speed 13.98 knots.

The ship's safety performance meets the latest CSR-H specification, the ship's EEDI meets Stage 3 standards, and its exhaust gas meets Tier III requirements.

The four bulk carriers under construction at Yangfan Group will be delivered in the second half of 2022. The two bulk carriers, to be built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, will be delivered in January and March 2022.

The bulk carriers ordered by Reederei H Vogemann from Yangfan Group cost US $2,600 each. If all two alternative orders are put into effect, the total value will be US $156 million.

Orders for large container ships and other high-value vessels, which take longer to build than bulk carriers and are more attractive to shipyards, have been hitting record highs since November. As a result, there are not many berths left for bulk carriers, and price increases for bulk carriers are to be expected.
