GSI won another order for methanol dual fuel tanker xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2020-11-13 17:13

Swedish shipping company Proman Stena Bulk added a third methanol-powered dual-fuel tanker to Guangzhou Shipyard International, following two ships at the end of last year.

Proman Stena Bulk is a joint venture between Stena BulkAB of Sweden and Proman Shipping of Switzerland.

Last November, the company signed a contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International to build 2+2 49,990 dwt methanol dual-fuel tankers, the first of which will be delivered in early 2022.

The third new ship of Proman Stena Bulk will be christened "StenaProsperous" and it is scheduled to be delivered and operated in the second half of 2022.

Each of the series of methanol dual-fuel tankers will use 12500 tons of methanol as marine fuel per year, powered by MAN dual-fuel engine, without expensive catalyst conversion, significantly reducing NOx emissions.

"Stena Prosperous" will initially be used in Stena Bulk's joint fleet for two to three years.

This will be the first methanol dual-fuel tanker to be traded on the chemical /CPP market by a traditional owner. After this initial phase, the ship will begin a long-term charter with Proman Shipping.
