Chinese tanker exploded in Yellow Sea, 15 crew rescued, 2 missing Xinde Marine News Vivian Xu 2023-01-12 13:55


At around 1505 on January 10, an empty tanker "HONGPU 6" exploded and caught fire at 35.22.6N, 120.44.2E in Yellow Sea, trapping 17 crews on board. Fifteen have been rescued and two are missing, understood to be an AB and a MTM.
 
The tanker is 128 meters long, 20 meters wide and 5.2 meters draught, flag China. The tanker is a domestic trade route, which is sailing from Tianjin to Shandong Qingdao.
 
It is understood that at 0900 Beijing time on January 12, the AIS signal was still being transmitted, proving that was still floating.
