On the morning of July 28, 2020, the commencement ceremony was held for the construction project of 14000kW large cruise rescue ship (upgraded version) of Nanhai Rescue Bureau undertaken by China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen).

The ship is 136.9 meters long, 26.7 meters wide and 11 meters deep. The ship is designed with three engine rooms, high speed and large towing force. It is equipped with DP3 dynamic positioning system and other special equipment.

This is the first upgraded version of the large cruise rescue ship built by China. It will add new tools to China's duties of searching and rescuing people, ships and aircraft in distress in the South China Sea, participating in global maritime search and rescue and international rescue operations, and cooperating in safeguarding national maritime rights and interests.
