On June 16, Ministry of Transport issued a news release, announcing the following:
Newly added transportation capacity and recommended ship types in 2020
In order to deepen the adjustment of transport capacity structure and guarantee the transport of bulk liquid dangerous goods between coastal provinces, some additional ship capacity will be added appropriately in 2020.
Crude carrier capacity: A single ship with an additional capacity of 4000-20000 dwt and crude carrier with a total capacity of 100,000 dwt.
Product tanker: About 300,000 DWT in total. First, an additional 30,000 to 50,000 DWT shipping capacity of refined oil products is about 100,000 DWT. Second, increase the shipping capacity of product tankers with a deadweight of 20,000 tons or less by about 200,000 tons.
Chemical tanker capacity: About 50,000 dwt in total. First, about 43,000 dwt will be added to chemical shipping capacity. It is recommended to develop high-end stainless steel chemical shipping. Second, an additional capacity of around 70,000 dwt will be added to ships carrying special liquid sulfur chemicals.
LPG capacity: About 15,000 cubic meters (about 12,000 dwt) of additional LPG shipping capacity (including chemical gas vessels).
LNG capacity: No new LNG shipping capacity will be added temporarily.
