CMES signed a contract with CSSC with regards to the construction of 4 VLCCs xinde marine news 2019-12-09 16:44


On 3 December 2019, CMES signed a contract with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) in Shanghai with regards to the construction of 4 VLCCs. Both Mr Wang Hong, Executive Vice President of China Merchants Group and Mr Xie Chunlin, Chairman of CMES, attended the ceremony.
 
On behalf of each party, Mr Wu Jianyi, Chief Engineer of CMES, and Mr Yang Zhizhong, General Manager of DSIC, signed the agreement.Another attendee to the ceremony was Mr Zhang Jinti, General Manager of the Enterprise Planning and Management Department of CMES.
 
The VLCC crude oil tankers ordered by CMES belongs to a new generation of energy-saving and environmentally-friendly ships with 307,000 DWT. It is expected to reduce fuel consumption by about 5% compared with the current ship type, while the environmental protection indicators have also been greatly improved. The 4 new tankers are scheduled to be delivered one at a time starting from August 2021.
