Spot rates for shipping containers from Asia to northern Europe in the week ending Friday jumped 9.1 per cent to US$766 per TEU.
Asia-Mediterranean increased six per cent to $730 per TEU, according to the Shanghai Containerised Freight Index (SCFI).
Rates from Shanghai-US west coast jumped 14.3 per cent to $1,405 per FEU while China-US east coast increased 19 per cent to $2,256 per FEU.
