CSSC Idolphin: World's First Smart Ship

The 38,800-metric ton bulk carrier (CSSC Idolphin), named Great Smart, started its trial in Guangzhou on October 31, 2017. 
 
Great Smart is an innovative product of the CSSC Green Dolphin fuel-efficient bulk carrier project and also the world’s first ship awarded the “CYBER-SAFE”, “CYBER-PERFORM”, “CYBER-MAINTAIN” authorized by Lloyds Register of Shipping (LR), one of the top maritime technical standards services. Besides, it is the first ship to be built according to the CCS Smart Ship Code that applied for CCS Smart Ship Code I-SHIP (NMEI), and its technical performance has reached the world leading level.
 
The Great Smart is an intelligent upgrade version based on the Green Dolphin 38,800-metric ton bulk carrier. It is equipped with Ship Operation and Maintenance System (SOMS) and smart navigation system to realize smart navigation, smart cabin, intelligent energy efficiency management and other functions so as to make ship operations more in accordance with the times demand of safety, environmental protection and economy.

It was developed by the CSSC independent investment, which lasted 3 years, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Co in Guangzhou, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, China Shipbuilding Industry Systems Engineering Research Institute, Hudong Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., China Shipbuilding Research Institute, LR, CCS and other units jointly completed the development of the ship and it has become a vivid practice of implementing the innovation-driven development strategy in the shipbuilding industry.
