Chairman Xie Chunlin meets with Vice President of ABS xinde marine news 2019-03-11 16:37


On 5 March, 2019, Capt. Xie Chunlin, Chairman of China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), had a meeting in Hong Kong with Mr Eric Kleess, Senior Vice President, Hemisphere Operations, Eastern Hemisphere of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). Ms Christina Wang, Vice President, Market Development (China) of the ABS, Mr Wang Yongxin, President of CMES, and Mr Zhang Shiwei, Chief Engineer and Deputy Safety Director, were also present in the meeting.
 
Capt. Xie extended a warm welcome to Mr Eric Kleess and his fellows for their exchange visit to CMES. He gave them a presentation on the latest development of CMES, and introduced them to Mr Wang, who is recently appointed as the President of CMES. The two parties shared their thoughts on the shipping market, the Ballast Water Convention and the IMO 2020 sulphur limit. Capt. Xie also expressed his gratitude for the support from the ABS over the years and looked forward to strengthening cooperation in key areas, hoping in particular that the ABS would make significant impact to CMES’s expansion to the Western Market.
 
Mr Wang expressed gratitude to the ABS for their support and smooth cooperation during the rapid development of CMES, and the cooperation between the two sides in shipbuilding and ship inspection in recent years. He hoped that both of them could further strengthen cooperation in building new ships.
 
Mr Eric Kleess was thankful to Capt. Xie for his warm reception and briefly introduced the latest development of the ABS. He expressed strong support towards expanding CMES to the Western Hemisphere, especially the US market, and hoped to further strengthen communication for providing better and higher quality service for each of CMES’ business sections. 
 
Mr Pier Carazzai, Director, Global Business Development (Hong Kong) of ABS, and Mr Wu Jianyi, Deputy General Manager of Associated Maritime (Hong Kong) Corporate Limited (AMCL) had also attended the meeting.
