PIL to build 6 LNG-powered container ships at Chinese shipyard

Singapore's largest shipowner, Pacific International Lines (PIL), will order at least six 8,000TEU dual-fuel LNG-powered container ships in Chinese shipyards.

PIL has already contacted shipyards such as Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. In March, PIL announced the signing of a contract with Jiangnan Shipyard to build four 14,000 TEU container ships.

Alphaliner data showed that as of May 2, PIL operated 89 ships and controlled a capacity of 284,370TEU. Among them, there are 68 self-owned ships and 21 chartered ships, ranking 12th in the capacity list of global container liner companies.
