Yangzijiang won another 12 ships orders from SITC

Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has received orders from SITC for up to 12 1800TEU feeder container ships with a total value of more than RMB1.7 billion.

On August 30, SITC signed a contract with Yangzijiang to build 6+6 1800TEU container ships. The first six container ships are expected to be delivered from April to October 2022, with a total price of about $126 million and a price of $21 million per ship.

The alternative order can be confirmed and come into effect in three parts, with 2 vessels in each batch. The first batch of 2 vessels can be executed within about 5 months after the signing of the shipbuilding contract, and the remaining two batches of 4 vessels in total can take effect within 5 months after the execution of the previous alternative order.

At present, SITC operates a fleet of 88 container ships, including 69 self-owned ships and 19 chartered ships, with a total capacity of 129,700 TEU, ranking 17th in the world. In addition, four new vessels are under construction.

All four of SITC's new vessels, including one 2400TEU and three 2700TEU feeder container ships, will be delivered this year and next year, according to Clarkson.

So far this year, despite the impact of the epidemic on the new shipbuilding market, Yangzijiang has received orders for 15 ships worth $517 million in the first half of the year, more than double that of the same period last year.

By the end of June 30, 2020, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding has received orders of 62 ships worth US $2.6 billion, ranking second in China and seventh in the world.
