LNG, LPG, ethane, ammonia, and methanol. Deepwell and submerged, low-pressure and high-pressure. With a continuously expanding fuel pump program, Svanehoj is driving the transition towards cleaner energy in shipping.
The growing demand for cleaner marine fuel has driven Svanehoj fuel pump sales to new heights, reaching a significant milestone in 2024: 1,000 pumps sold. Remarkably, more than half of these fuel pumps have been ordered within the last three years, underscoring Svanehoj's impact on the maritime industry's shift towards greener, more sustainable shipping.
Since delivering the first marine pump for liquid cargo more than 60 years ago, Svanehoj's primary design focus has been to optimize energy performance and extend service intervals across the entire pump portfolio. By prioritizing lifetime cost over initial investment, Svanehoj continues to drive innovation and efficiency in the industry.
"We are committed to continuously innovating our product portfolio at the lowest possible environmental lifecycle cost. Our ambition is to be at the forefront of the green transition", says Søren Kringelholt Nielsen, CEO at Svanehoj.
A full-scale fuel pump program
Based on decades of experience with cryogenic liquids, Svanehoj offers a complete low-pressure series of both deepwell (DW) and submerged (CS) fuel pumps for LNG-powered ships.
The patented "DW Fuel Pump" is designed to provide full fuel flexibility, ensuring compatibility with all liquid gas fuels, including LNG, LPG, ethane, ammonia, and methanol. The pump enables ships to comply with both current and future requirements, empowering shipowners on their journey toward a zero-emission industry.
The "CS Fuel Pump" represents the next generation of submerged LNG fuel pumps, engineered for superior efficiency and reliability. With a unique, patented self-cleaning LNG filter and a highly efficient electric motor, the pump effectively handles the two main issues of submerged LNG pumps: clogging and boil-off gas.
New innovative high-pressure solutions for LNG and ammonia
Recognizing shipping's urgent need for innovation, Svanehoj is committed to directing at least 95% of all R&D investments into solutions and products that align with the company mindset of "Powering a better future".
In recent years, Svanehoj has expanded into high-pressure fuel systems by introducing the "HPP Triplex Unit", a complete high-pressure fuel pump solution for LNG-fueled engines, and the "HP NH3 Fuel Pump", the world's first high-pressure centrifugal pump for ammonia fuel applications. Each of these pump solutions incorporates significant innovations designed to meet the maritime industry's demand for efficient, leak-free, critical components with long service lives.
