Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers announced that the company has ordered five firm plus four options for 62,000d wt multipurpose pulp carriers at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian).
The newbuildings are priced at RMB232.6m per vessel.
The newbuild orders come after Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers has won several pulp transport COA contracts over the last two years. The newbuildings will further support the company’s expansion into the pulp transport market.
In 2017, the company ordered two plus one pulp carriers at Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian), which are due for delivery starting from 2019.
Pulp trading volume will keep increasing in the coming years, the long term COA contract of pulp transport could provide stable benefits to the company, Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers stated.
Cosco Shipping Specialized Carriers, formerly known as Guangzhou Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. operates a fleet of more than a hundred vessels, mainly including multi-purpose and heavy lift vessels, semi-submersible vessels, pure car carriers, logs carriers as well as asphalt carriers etc.
