On September 2, Haitong Development announced that its subsidiaries Dananing Shipping and Dachongqing Shipping have signed MOA agreements to acquire two multipurpose vessels – PACIFIC HONOUR and PACIFIC HERO – from German owners Helene Braren KG and Simon Braren KG.
Total value: USD 32 million (USD 16 million each)
Vessel specs: Built in 2011, DWT ~28,400, classed by DNV
Funding: Fully self-financed (including internal funds)
Process: Approved by the board and shareholders, with ownership rights clear and valuations aligned with market assessments
These acquisitions not only strengthen Haitong’s fleet scale and optimize its structure but also mark another decisive step in expanding beyond traditional bulk carriers.
Strategic Move into the MPP & Heavy-Lift Market
Haitong Development has already identified multipurpose and heavy-lift shipping as a new growth engine. By adding vessels equipped for diverse cargo handling, the company is well-positioned to serve global demand for project logistics, oversized equipment, and diversified breakbulk cargoes—complementing its strong dry bulk foundation.
With a long-term “100 vessels by 2028–2029” roadmap and a focus on diversified tonnage, Haitong Development is pursuing a dual-track strategy: scaling up in bulk while building a competitive edge in the multipurpose/heavy-lift segment.
