Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (SWS) has entered a new chapter of leadership.

Mr. Chen Gang, formerly Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager, has officially been appointed as Party Secretary and Chairman of SWS.

With over two decades of dedication to SWS since 2002, Dr. Chen has served in key technical and managerial roles, from FPSO project design manager to Vice President, Chief Engineer, and General Manager. He was also the chief designer of Adora Magic City, China’s first large cruise ship.

At the recent “15th Five-Year Plan” planning conference, Mr. Chen emphasized SWS’s determination to benchmark itself against world-class shipbuilders, uphold its mission of “building dreams on the ocean, creating benefits for humanity”, and advance its strategic focus of “Cruise-led, with dual wings in offshore and commercial ships.”

His appointment marks not only a leadership transition but also a decisive step for SWS as it moves toward higher-quality development, green transformation, and enhanced global competitiveness.
