OOCL Names its Third 16,828 TEU Container Vessel, OOCL Sunflower OOCL 2025-01-14 17:28

Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (“OOCL”) celebrated the naming of its third brand new 16,828 TEU container vessel “OOCL Sunflower” at Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (“DACKS”) on 11 Jan 2025.
 
“OOCL Sunflower” was named and blessed by Mrs. Jenny King, Director and General Manager of INTCO Recycling Resources Co., Ltd. under the witness of many guests, partners and customers. This series of latest eco-friendly vessels, each with a capacity of 16,828 TEU, incorporates cutting-edge technology that delivers exceptional intelligence, superior environmental performance, and outstanding operational efficiency. Designed to not only meet but exceed current environmental standards, this series underscores OOCL’s commitment to sustainable development.
 
Mr. Michael Xu, Director and Member of Executive Committee of OOCL, said at the ceremony: “We are confident that this ship will significantly enhance our ability to connect the world and serve our customers in future voyages. As we look ahead to 2025, the shipping industry is set to face both opportunities and challenges. OOCL's fleet structure will be further optimized, with more efficient and environmentally friendly new vessels set to deliver and sail, positioning us for future growth. We believe our vessels will continue to serve as a vital link connecting global markets, facilitating trade development, and delivering enhanced, environmentally friendly end-to-end integrated logistics services to our customers.”
 
The “OOCL Sunflower” will be serving OOCL’s Trans-Pacific Trade ECX1 service. The port rotation is: Hong Kong / Yantian / Xiamen / Shanghai / New York / Savannah / Charleston / Laem Chabang / Cai Mep / Hong Kong in a 91-day round trip.
