China won all PCTC orders worldwide Xinde Marine News Vivian Xu 2023-02-24 16:41

In January, China won all 17 Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) orders worldwide.

From 2016 to 2020, only four PCTC delivered annually. However, the export volume of new energy vehicles continues to climb, greatly boosting the demand for PCTC. Statistics show that in 2022, China's auto exports exceeded 3.11 million units. To this end, even some auto enterprises are starting to build their fleets. China's SAIC Motor, BYD and Chery, in particular, are proposing their own transport schemes.

Since 2021, China State Shipbuilding Group has received a total of thirty five 7000 to 9200 CEU PCTC orders. Even South Korean shipowners, who rarely order ships from Chinese shipyards, have opted to build the 7,000 CEU dual-fuel PCTC and 8,600 CEU PCTC by Guangzhou Shipyard International.
