CMHI won 5+5 9000 CEU PCTC orders from Grimaldi Xinde Marine News Sarah Yu 2022-10-28 14:38

On October 26, Grimaldi Group of Italy and China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) signed an order for 5+5 ammonia-ready 9000 CEU PCTCs. The price of a single ship is about US $100 million, with a total value of US $1 billion.

The first five ships are planned to be delivered from 2025 to 2026, and will be deployed on routes between Europe, North Africa and Asia after delivery.

These ships have also obtained RINA's ammonia-ready symbol, which can be converted to use ammonia as marine fuel in the future.

Emanuele Grimaldi, general manager of Grimaldi Group, said that this type of dual-fuel ship would save 50% of the fuel compared with the previous generation of PCTCs.

China Merchants Group's shipyards have built 29 new ships for Grimaldi Group in recent years, most of which were built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Nanjing).
