Sinopec realizes China's first ship methanol bunkering Xinde Marine News Sarah Yu 2022-09-30 15:05

On September 29, Sinopec Fuel Oil Company bunkered 90 tons of methanol fuel for the maiden voyage of China's first self-developed methanol dual-fuel ship at Nansha Port, Guangzhou, becoming the first ship fuel supplier in China to carry out methanol bunkering operations.

The ship is the first ship of 49,900 dwt methanol dual-fuel chemical/product tankers built by Guangzhou Shipyard International, a subsidiary of CSSC, which can reduce carbon emissions by up to 75%.

Compared with LNG and other fuels, methanol is more convenient for storage and transportation, and has lower infrastructure renovation costs. It has significant cost and safety advantages, and is rapidly developing into one of the most feasible marine fuel alternatives with the least carbon emission and the lowest cost.
