DSIC's ammonia-ready dual-fuel VLCC awarded AIP by BV Xinde Marine News Sarah Yu 2022-09-28 16:49

On September 27, the new design of LNG fueled 300,000 dwt VLCC with ammonia prepared, jointly developed by CMES, Total Energies, GTT and BV, was awarded AIP by BV.

In 2021, China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), TotalEnergies, Dalian Shipbuilding Industry (DSIC) and GTT signed a joint design project cooperation agreement. The AIP awarded by BV this time is the result of a successful cooperation.

This type of ship adopts GTT-designed Mark III membrane-type fuel tanks that are compatible with both LNG and liquid ammonia fuel to meet the endurance requirements of VLCC global route operations. This design has obtained the classification symbols of LNGFuel dualfuel, AMMONIA-PREPARED(S,T).

Following the successful delivery of the world's first LNG dual-fuel powered VLCC "YUAN RUI YANG" in February this year, and the AIP certificate for the ammonia-fueled VLCC design, DSIC actively responded to customer needs and launched another innovative design.
