China first time use 100% pure biofuel in low-speed engine Xinde Marine News Vivian Xu 2022-09-16 11:29

Recently, CSPI, a subsidiary of CSSC Power (Group) carried out the test of pure biofuel (BD100 biodiesel) on the 520mm marine low-speed engine (RTX8), which is also China first time to use 100% pure biofuel in the low-speed engine.

The biofuel used in the trial, BD100 biodiesel, is made from 100% waste cooking oil by transesterification process with extremely low sulfur content, resulting in more than 98% reduction in sulfur oxide (SOX) and more than 50% reduction in BC emissions.

Biofuel is a kind of renewable energy with potential. Its carbon component comes from the atmosphere, and then returns to the atmosphere after combustion. It is internationally recognized as "zero-carbon" fuel.
