China's port container throughput up 6.3 pct on Saturday, along with strong rail freight transport CCTV 2022-08-15 09:20

Transport and logistics in China continued to expand on Saturday, as port container throughput grew 6.3 percent from the previous month, and rail freight transport services were operating at a high level, according to a release by the logistics office under the State Council.

On Saturday, China's transportation volume of rail freight rose 0.98 percent month on month to almost 10.37 million tons, while nearly seven million trucks passed through highways, a month-on-month decrease of 2.62 percent.

Major ports across the country handled over 32.63 million tons of freight on Saturday, down by one percent from the previous month, and the container throughput reached 756,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), up 6.3 percent from last month.

Meanwhile, China's civil aviation sector saw 699 cargo flights operated on Saturday, down 0.9 percent from the previous month.

Postal workers collected 276 million pieces of express parcels on Saturday, down 5.5 percent month on month. Around 285 million pieces of parcels were delivered, a 2.7 percent decline than the previous month.
