CMES' GREAT TRIUMPH rescued two overboard crew Xinde Marine News Vivian Xu 2022-07-21 13:14

On July 18, a small boat capsized off the coast of Morocco in West Africa. "GREAT TRIUMPH", a vessel owned by CMES' Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping, responded to the rescue call from LAS PALMAS Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) immediately, organized the crew to carry out rescue immediately and successfully rescued two overboard crew.

At 2345 on July 17 (Beijing Time 6:45 on July 18), the "GREAT TRIUMPH" was on its way from the Mediterranean Sea to the KAMSAR Port in Guinea, West Africa, when it received a VHF telephone instruction from the LAS PALMAS MRCC, asking it to sail to the coast of Monaco to search for a ship in distress. Other information is unknown except for the approximate position of 28° 59'N, 011° 58'W, which was about 65nm away from the search area. "GREAT TRIUMPH" immediately went to the MRCC designated areas for search and rescue missions.

After sailing at full ahead for more than five hours, at 0516 on July 18, the "GREAT TRIUMPH" arrived at the designated sea area for all-out search and rescue. Due to the light to medium sea in the sea area, the information of the ship in distress and the crew was missing, and the small size of the ship made it difficult to find, so it was difficult to distinguish the sea conditions only by vision, which brought some difficulties to the search and rescue work.

Weak light detected on the sea, unidentified object detected 2 nm from corresponding radar bearing range.

The lookouts spotted the ship in distress. MRCC assigned the specialized rescue vessel ASSA from the Tan-Tan Port to take charge of the rescue. It will arrive at its present position in about four hours, with the "GREAT TRIUMPH" standing guard near the ship.
The lookout spotted a overboard crew near the distress vessel. According to the pre-plan, the "GREAT TRIUMPH" immediately organized the crew to rescue the overboard crew.

At 1215, 18 July 2022
Those rescued by the "GREAT TRIUMPH" boarded the rescue vessel ASSA. MRCC instructed the "GREAT TRIUMPH" to remain in the vicinity of the vessel until all persons in distress were safely removed.
