Global Maritime Forum's Annual Summit 2022 to address supply chain disruptions, decarbonization, and human sustainability Xinde Marine News 2022-07-01 16:41

The Global Maritime Forum's Annual Summit 2022 will convene senior leaders in New York City in late September. Participants will work collectively to identify how to take action on recent turbulent changes in global trade patterns, decarbonization, and human sustainability.

A global pandemic, the largest war in Europe since 1945, rising temperatures caused by climate change, and severe disruptions to global supply chains have created new uncertainties for the maritime sector. The Global Maritime Forum’s Annual Summit will bring together top decision makers, thought leaders, and experts from across the maritime spectrum and beyond, to make sense of what these challenges mean for the maritime industry and to collectively identify ways in which they can take action to bring about positive change for the industry and society.

“The sector is facing a perfect storm of interlocking crises: climate, energy, food security, supply chain disruptions and a steep increase in the global competition for talent. As a community we need to better understand the dynamics of these challenges to come up with durable solutions,” says Johannah Christensen, Chief Executive Officer at the Global Maritime Forum.

The Annual Summit in New York will focus on the following topics: resilient supply chains and changing trade patterns, decarbonizing shipping, and human sustainability and talent attraction.

“Now more than ever the influence and commitment from the entire maritime value chain will be critical for our ability as an industry to successfully address the complex challenges we collectively face. This will be our shared objective at the Annual Summit in September,” says Johannah Christensen, Chief Executive Officer at Global Maritime Forum.

The Summit will take place at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in Brooklyn, New York on the 22-23 September 2022.
