CIMC and RMS Projects to build up to 10 multi-purpose heavy lift vessels Xinde Marine News Sarah Yu 2022-05-10 15:49

Recently, German RMS Projects announced to cooperate with CIMC Group to build up to 10 14,000 DWT multi-purpose heavy lift vessels.
 
It is said that CIMC will build the first batch of 6 ships in its shipyard, which is scheduled to be delivered in 2024. The remaining four will be delivered in 2025. The ships are managed commercially by RMS.
 
RMS said that these multi-purpose heavy cranes were specially optimized for cargo transportation of onshore and offshore projects. Their bottom tank size was 91.8 x 19.8 meters, the second deck size was 114.1 x 19.8 meters, and the net deck size was 125.4 m x 25.6 m.
 
The new ship is classified into DNV classification society,and is equipped with two 250-ton cranes with a total lifting capacity of 500 tons.
 
The cost of these new ships has not been announced, but the market reference price shows that the cost of 12,500 dwt newbuildings with similar lifting capacity is close to 30 million US dollars per ship.
