Bangladesh's feeder line operator HR Lines is negotiating with a Chinese shipyard and plans to order several container ships.

In October of this year, reports from several ship brokers showed that a Bangladeshi customer ordered 4 2900TEU container ships from Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, which are expected to be delivered between the end of 2023 and the middle of 2024. It is rumored in the market that the shipowner is HR Lines.

Raimah Chowdhury, general manager of HR Lines, said that the company is discussing the container ship project with Fujian Mawei, and relevant information will be announced before the end of November.

HR Lines is part of the Karnaphuli Group founded by Hedayat Hossain Chowdhury in 1954. Its business scope covers ports, shipping, media, healthcare, real estate, retail and insurance/finance.
