The MISC Group of Companies (MISC Group) stood tall as the proud winner of four significant awards at the Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) Malaysia 2020/2021 which was held virtually on 23 September 2021. MISC Group came up tops as the Winner in three out of the 12 award categories, namely Waste Productivity & Materiality, Climate Change & Emissions, Land Use & Biodiversity and received a Special Achievement award recognition for Stakeholder Management.

The Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) recognises companies for their outstanding performance on environmental and social sustainability, highlighting their successes and providing others with examples of best practices that can be emulated and replicated. Since 2012, this Award series has been held in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), industry associations and government agencies.

Mr. Yee Yang Chien, President/Group CEO of MISC Berhad said “It is truly an honour for MISC Group to be recognised at the Sustainable Business Awards Malaysia 2020/2021. Sustainability is embedded firmly as a core element in our business strategy, decision-making processes and operations at sea and shore, to continuously drive value creation in the long term for all our stakeholders. Ultimately this will enable us to realise the possibilities of what we can achieve together as an organization and an industry in creating a sustainable future for the next generation.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the MISC Board for being the driving force and the Management Committee Members as well as our staff at sea and shore for their unwavering commitment and support in all our sustainability commitments across the Group,” added Mr Yee.

In 2019, MISC took home the awards in the categories of Business Responsibility and Ethics as well as United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with Special Recognition in Strategy and Sustainability Management.
