Jiangnan Shipyard won world's largest VLGC order again xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-09-26 15:12

Singapore's Sinogas announced the expansion of its order to build five dual-fuel VLGCs at a Chinese shipyard. The new fleet is the world's largest dual-fuel VLGC with a cargo capacity of 93,000CBM, of which 2 new ships have been confirmed, and there are 3 alternatives.

The amount was not disclosed. But industry estimates put the value of each VLGC at up to $76m, with a total value of $380m for five vessels.

In February, Sinogas's affiliate, Southwest Maritime, ordered 1+1 Panda VLGCs from Jiangnan. Sinogas has now identified this alternative ship and added three more alternatives.

These VLGCs are powered by LPG and are designed with the 4th generation VS-BOW MK-IV, which is combined with "LPG dual fuel main engine + shaft generator propulsion system". So that the overall emissions of the ship in the future operation can reach the lowest. It is a "future type" green ship.

Panda 93P VLGC has been approved by BV Classification Society. The new design, which is based on Jiangnan's Panda VLGC, can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 32% compared to the 84,000CBM VLGC of the previous generation.

On September 22, Jiangnan Shipyard held the commencement ceremony for the two 93000m3 VLGCs built for Sinogas, which will be delivered in 2023.
