On August 10, 2021, the Management Committee of Lingang New Area and Shanghai International Port Group jointly held the signing and unveiling ceremony of Shanghai Port Northeast Asia empty container dispatch center.
 
SIPG will further deepen the strategic cooperation with shipping enterprises, realize the interconnection, co construction and sharing of port and shipping enterprises, solve the seasonal container shortage caused by the imbalance of import and export container volume, and improve the allocation capacity of port, shipping logistics resources and the comprehensive service level of port and shipping.
 
In the first half of this year, the container throughput of Shanghai Port was 22.94 million TEU, a year-on-year increase of 14.3%, and it is expected to exceed 47 million TEU in the whole year. As an indispensable core hub port of Shanghai international shipping center, with superior geographical location, route layout extending in all directions and extensive radiation area, Yangshan Port has the responsibility and conditions to assume the core node of the global supply chain, has the capacity of empty container storage and creates favorable conditions for empty container transportation.
 
This time, Shanghai International Port Group, together with Maersk, CMA CGM, MSC, Evergreen and other world-famous shipping logistics companies, will build an empty container dispatch center in Northeast Asia, which will play a positive role in Shanghai port's vigorous development of international and domestic water to water transfer and improving the level of the shipping hub.
