New Times receives 8+4 bulk carrier orders xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-06-21 13:58

Shipowner and investor Tor Olav Troim created another bulk carrier company, Himalaya Shipping, and signed 8+4 208,000 dwt LNG-powered Newcastlemax bulk carriers in New Times Shipbuilding.

The cost of each ship ordered by Himalaya is between US$67 million and US$68 million. Troim raised cash by selling shares in 2020 Bulkers in May this year to fund the new shipbuilding.

Troim confirmed the latest order to the Norwegian daily newspaper Finansavisen. He said that the cost and delivery time are attractive, and the deal was concluded earlier this year when steel prices did not rise significantly.
