MAN receives orders for dual-fuel main engines of up to 6 carriers from New Times xinde marine news Sarah Yu 2021-06-01 17:09

MAN Energy Solutions has received an order for three 6G70ME-GI engines for three 210,000 DWT bulk carriers built by New Times Shipbuilding for Singapore's Eastern Pacific (EPS).

The three engines will be produced by MAN's licensed manufacturer in China, CSSC-MES Diesel, and the contract includes an alternative order for the same engine for the owner's other three alternative vessels.

In October 2020, MAN Energy Solutions also received an order to deliver five 6G70ME-GI MK 10.5 dual-fuel engines for five 210,000 DWT Newcastlemax bulk carriers ordered by EPS.

ME-GI engines are now the market standard for large dual-fuel bulk carriers, and the value chain in this sector is increasingly focused on decarbonization. ME-GI engines have proven technology, and alternative fuels such as LNG have significant potential, proving to the industry that they are a viable option to reduce their carbon footprint.

The bulk carrier will be one of the cleanest and most efficient vessels in the bulk carrier market, having already met IMO 2030 requirements ahead of schedule.
