From January to April 2021, China's completed shipbuilding capacity reached 12.81 million dwt, up 16.6% year on year, of which sea-going ships reached 3.31 million GT. New orders for ships totaled 27.87 million DWT, up 182.1% year on year, of which sea-going ships totaled 10.56 million DWT. By the end of April, the order volume of hand-held ships was 84.19 million DWT, up 4.5% year on year and 18.4% higher than that of the end of 2020. Sea-going ships were 31.7 million GT, and export ships accounted for 88.9% of the total.
2. International market share
From January to April 2021, China's international market share of the three major indexes of shipbuilding in terms of deadweight and modified gross tons remained the world leader. The completed shipbuilding volume, new orders received and hand-held orders accounted for 41.1%, 53.3% and 46.8% of the world's total deadweight tons, respectively.
3. Industry concentration
From January to April 2021, the concentration of shipbuilding industry remained at a high level, with the top 10 shipbuilding enterprises accounting for 77.8% of the country's total shipbuilding volume. The top 10 new ship orders accounted for 80.7% of the country's total; The top 10 enterprises of hand-held ship orders account for 72% of the country.
