On May 12, Jiangnan Shipbuilding Group, a subsidiary of CSSC, held the completion ceremony of world's first Type B tank of VLEC, marking a key technological breakthrough in Jiangnan Shipbuilding's 99,000m3 VLEC. Its self-developed "BrilliancE®" cargo containment system achieves engineering and rhythmic production.

Based on the mature Type A tank of VLGC, Jiangnan Shipbuilding independently developed Type B cargo tank based on the "Brilliance ®" technology. It is equipped with different body materials and insulation systems, which can be used for carrying liquefied gas cargo of different temperatures.

At the same time, the Type B tank has also been approved by the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

Jiangnan Shipbuilding is the only shipping enterprise in China with the capability of R & D, design and construction of a full range of liquefied gas carriers. It has the capability of independent R & D, design and construction of liquefied gas carriers with various enclosure systems of Type A, Type B, Type C and Mark III membrane tanks.

At the ceremony, ABS issued the AIP certificate of 79800 m3 Type B LNG carrier to Jiangnan Shipbuilding, marking a substantial step towards the application of the Type B independent tank containment system based on the "Brilliance ®" technology. This will further enhance the brand reputation and market influence of "Panda" series of Jiangnan Shipbuilding liquefied gas ship, and lay a solid foundation for the company to undertake more orders in the future.
