On April 26, Hoegh Autoliners, a Norwegian shipping company, announced the launch of its "Aurora" series car carrier in an effort to decarbonize the shipping industry.

The design of this series of ships will be developed in collaboration with Deltamarin. The new ship is designed to carry 9,100 vehicles and will be the world's largest car carrier when completed.

Höegh Autoliners has signed a MOU with long-term partner Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry and expects to deliver the first of the new ships by the end of 2023.

"Aurora" series ships are ready for zero carbon emissions. The ships are equipped with multi-fuel engines that can run on a variety of biofuels and conventional fuels, including liquefied natural gas. With a few minor changes, it could switch to zero-carbon fuels, including green ammonia, in the future.
