Since the end of last year, the new shipbuilding market container ship orders have exploded, the cumulative order has broken 100.

CMA CGM is accelerating its order process and is expected to return to China's shipyards in the near future to order up to 12 LNG-powered 10,000 TEU container vessels.

CMA CGM is in advanced negotiations to order 3+3 LNG-powered 13000TEU container ships at Hudong Zhonghua and Jiangnan Shipyard respectively, each at a cost of about US $140 million to US $145 million, with a total value of US $1.74 billion when all options become effective.

If the order is finalised, it will be the third time CMA CGM has teamed up with Hudong Zhonghua and Jiangnan Shipyard to build LNG-powered container ships.

In addition to the LNG-powered vessels from Jiangnan Shipyard and Hudong Zhonghua, CMA CGM is planning to order 5+5 5500TEU Panamax container ships from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, with a total value of about US $1.2 billion.
